Presidents Report

Since our AGM last year, we have had several events, beginning with our "Easter Parade" at Tentsmuir last April. This was great fun, and seems to have been enjoyed by many, including a number of onlookers enjoying a day out themselves at this very pleasant venue. A few of the "less lucky" ones were even press ganged into the role of judge for the Easter bonnet and decorated egg competitions!
There were a couple of club walks, Ravenscraig, St Cyrus, then back to Ann and Ian’s, also Braefoot point, less well attended but enjoyed non the less.

A very successful calendar was printed from the winning photos, it was completely sold out!
This year, the photo competition was repeated, and as you will doubtless already have heard, the standards were higher and the entry bigger. It is our intention to print a new calendar for 2008, so remember to make sure that you get your orders in to ensure that you are not disappointed.
Later this year, we hope to hold the competition again, and the overall winner will receive a copy of the Jill Bregy "Illustrated Guide to the Irish Wolfhound".

The seminar, held this morning, was a great success, attracting several "outsiders" in addition to our own members. I would like to say a very big thank you to all of the committee for all the hard work that this has meant. Well done everyone! This just proves that our "on-line" committee meetings seem to be successful. One or two hiccups along the way, but it has enabled us to get through the business, without having to take time to travel to a venue and back.

Our membership remains steady, but for any of you planning litters this year, remember to include a membership for the club for all your new puppy owners! We have recruited a number of members this way, and they have gone on to renew of their own accord the following year.

We hope that we will continue move forward as a club, and would just like to remind everyone that the club is for the benefit of its members. If there are activities or ideas that you would like the committee to consider, then please don't be afraid to let us know.

Treasurer’s Report

The Treasurer presented audited accounts for the calendar year of 2006. It was reported that the clubs finances were satisfactory with the bank balance increasing across the year. The membership fees received had declined a little from the 2005 level although there were thought to be some late payments still to be received. The club calendar was expected to break even financially. The level of Club Events had increased over 2006 but overall these were showing a small loss. This however was not a concern as the club had sufficient finds to continue to fund the organising of future events.

Election of Committee

The committee members due for re-election this year were Donna Beveridge and Jan Holiday. Both willing to re-stand. There being no other nominations, both were re-elected to the committee. This means the committee will remain the same for the forthcoming year, with two vacancies due for election in 2008.

Captain Graham’s Grave

Nick Wilkes explained that after reading an article in the irish club’s magazine, regarding the grave which is in some state of disrepair and neglect, he agreed with the author that perhaps the Irish Wolfhound Community should be offering some help. The difficulty is that it would seem highly likely that there are some surviving relatives, and that they need to be contacted in the first instance. Unfortunately this is proving to be quite difficult. Approaches have been made to the Irish Club, who were given Captain Graham's original stud book, but to date there has been no response. Phil Poole agreed to speak personally to Liz, (the secretary?) to see if that would help. Jan Holliday to look into it as well if possible. Any club member who has experience of tracing ancestry is encouraged to contact Nick with ideas of how we might trace the family.

The meeting closed at 16.20
